I live and paint in Northern California. I started out working with pastels and fell in love with the vibrant colors. I focused on abstract imagery and imaginary worlds.
Recently, I’ve been trying my hand at watercolors, starting small. Now I’m hooked on the gentleness and watery feel - it’s a very soothing way to work. I feel lighter and softer after painting. I’m very much in the beginning stages and am excited to see what develops. I painted a series of Cafe Portraits but because of shelter-in-place I’m focusing on finding inspiration from photographs I’ve taken over the years.
I’ve taken courses through our local community arts center. Mainly in pastels and one life drawing class. I guess you’d say I’m a self-taught watercolorist.
I’ve had seven art shows of my pastels through the city of Walnut Creek. Some solo, some group shows.
